Electrical Components Category Lead

We are currently seeking a highly experienced and strategic Category Manager to join our centralized supply chain team. This role will focus on the procurement and management of Electrical Components across our diverse operating companies within the global manufacturing sector. The Category Manager will play a crucial role in developing and executing category strategies aimed at achieving cost efficiencies, enhancing supply chain effectiveness, and supporting our broader business goals. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of industrial components, electrical systems, and market dynamics, along with exceptional leadership and negotiation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy Formulation: Create and implement robust category strategies for Electrical Components that align with organizational objectives and market conditions. Drive initiatives to optimize supply chain processes and improve procurement outcomes across all divisions.
- Supplier Relations: Identify, assess, and cultivate relationships with suppliers to foster strong partnerships. Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance and manage relationships to uphold high standards of quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
- Contract Management: Lead negotiations for supplier contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with company policies and legal standards.
- Market Insights: Perform comprehensive market research and analysis to remain updated on industry trends, pricing structures, and supply chain dynamics. Utilize findings to inform decision-making and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Cost Optimization: Develop and implement cost-reduction strategies to meet budgetary goals. Monitor spending patterns and identify opportunities for financial savings and process enhancements.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and other internal teams to understand their needs and ensure that procurement strategies align with their requirements. Facilitate effective communication and coordination among various operating units.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential supply chain risks associated with electrical components and metals. Formulate and execute risk mitigation strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply and minimize disruptions.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to category management. Provide regular updates to senior management regarding category performance, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and drive operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPP, CPM) is advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years in category management or procurement within an industrial manufacturing context, with a strong emphasis on Electrical Components. Experience in a matrix organization is preferred.

- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- In-depth understanding of industrial components, metals, and supply chain dynamics.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
