Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team at the State of Nebraska. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for compiling and analyzing financial data, maintaining accurate accounting records, and providing management with status reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and analyze financial data from various sources to identify trends and discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Provide management with regular status reports on financial performance and suggest solutions to problems
  • Pre-audit and review financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles
  • Assist with daily financial tasks, including coding and entering financial data
  • Determine accounting coding and classification according to agency policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Post-high school coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Experience performing accounting functions, including interpreting and analyzing financial data
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and accounting software
  • Ability to learn and apply accounting principles and procedures
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
