The City of Alexandria is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to serve as Deputy Director of Emergency Communications. This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Department of Emergency & Customer Communications, ensuring the delivery of high-quality public safety services to the community.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
- Supervise and manage a team of emergency communications professionals
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination
- Develop and manage the department's budget and resources
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in emergency communications
- Master's degree in a related field (e.g. public administration, emergency management)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in emergency communications or a related field
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
- Certified Public-Safety Executive (CPE) certification
- Experience with budget development and administration
- Knowledge of emergency communications systems and technologies
