Porter Job Description

SGA Talent is seeking a skilled Porter to join our team in Washington DC. As a Porter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our events by providing exceptional service and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the front of the house, including tables, counters, floors, windows, and beverage stations.
  • Table Management: Ensure tables are bussed, cleared, and cleaned, and floors are cleared and swept during peak service times.
  • Safety Procedures: Follow safety procedures when transporting dishes and utensils from the front of the house to the kitchen area.
  • Dishwashing and Cleaning: Wash dishes, glasses, and pots, and clean cooking stations and equipment to expedite a smooth flow of service.
  • Display Equipment: Keep display equipment clean, free of debris, and in compliance with all safety and sanitation standards during meal service.
  • Receiving Deliveries: Help receive heavy deliveries from the dock and transport them to assigned storage areas while observing all safe lifting standards.
Qualifications:
  • Customer Service Experience: Previous customer service experience is preferred.
  • Catering Experience: Previous catering experience is preferred.
  • Independence and Supervision: Demonstrate the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Dress Code: Must follow the required dress code as assigned.
  • Availability: Must be available to work event-based hours.
  • Training: Must be able to complete Food Handling and Alcohol Service training as required.

This role may have physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
