Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled RN Utilization Review Specialist to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. As a key member of our Utilization Review team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality care in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough admission, concurrent, and retrospective case reviews to meet hospital objectives of high-quality patient care
  • Collaborate with medical staff, physician advisors, social workers, and other ancillary hospital disciplines to meet patients' healthcare needs in the most cost-effective way
  • Perform patients' medical record reviews, document pertinent information, and communicate with third-party payors in a timely fashion to ensure proper hospital reimbursement and eliminate unnecessary denials
  • Implement strategies to avoid potential denials by communicating with all key stakeholders, including attending physicians
  • Participate in IDRs, Length of Stay, and other meetings as per hospital policies
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associate's Degree with 5 years of bedside nursing experience
  • Recent experience in Utilization Review in a hospital setting
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $41.98 - $71.68 and a PRN position to help fill in as needed, including some weekends.
