Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Social Worker to join our team at Children's National Hospital. As a Social Work Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing psychosocial care and support to patients and families in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments for identified patients and families, including assessment of psychosocial issues and care coordinator needs.
  • Develop and implement interventions to address identified psychosocial issues, including psychoeducation on perinatal mental health and referrals to community-based resources.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care and communication.
  • Identify and utilize external resources to meet patient and family needs, including research and sharing information with relevant agencies.
  • Remove complex barriers to achieving optimal patient and family outcomes, including intervening in complex situations and mediating conflictual situations.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • 1-year post-MSW experience as a Social Worker or second-year field placement in a complex medical setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to relate to diverse patient populations, and sensitivity to individuals from varied backgrounds and cultures.
  • Licensed in the District of Columbia at minimum at the LGSW-level, or licensed in another state with proof of DC licensure at any level.
