Job Summary

GPA Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Biological Resources Specialist to join our team in Southern California. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting biological studies, including research, field surveys, and technical reporting. You will also be responsible for coordinating with internal and external clients and subconsultants in the completion of biological tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct biological studies, including research, field surveys, and technical reporting
  • Coordinate with internal and external clients and subconsultants in the completion of biological tasks
  • Prepare technical biological documents, including survey reports, impact assessments, permit applications, and mitigation plans
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over the natural environment in California
  • Work effectively and cooperatively both as an individual and in a team setting
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience performing biological resources evaluation/analysis, directing or conducting biological studies, or managing an interdisciplinary team preparing biological studies
  • Equivalent to graduation from college in the Natural Sciences or Environmental Studies
  • Knowledge of natural communities of California
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, ecology and resource conservation, mitigation strategies, and basic engineering concepts and practices
  • Ability to prepare technical biological documents, including survey reports, impact assessments, permit applications, and mitigation plans
  • Experience with communicating with regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over the natural environment in California
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, compliance monitoring for construction projects
  • Understanding of Geographic Information Systems mapping and analysis in the context of biological resources studies
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulatory permitting for waterways
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to biological resources
