Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Hospice Aide provides essential support to patients in their residences under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN). This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive compassionate and effective care in the comfort of their own homes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with medical procedures as directed by physicians and under the supervision of nursing staff.
- Support patients with personal hygiene, daily living activities, and safe transfers.
- Monitor and report any significant changes in patients' physical, mental, or emotional states to the nursing team.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for patients.
- Keep thorough and accurate documentation regarding patient care and progress.
- Communicate any changes in patient conditions to the appropriate healthcare providers.
- Follow all instructions clearly and effectively, demonstrating proficiency in basic clinical mathematics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must hold certification and be registered with the Ohio Nurse's Aide Registry (STNA). Caregivers may have a designated period to obtain STNA certification if acquired during integration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
- For field staff, a valid Ohio driver's license and proof of automobile insurance coverage are required.
- Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Assistant Certification (CHPNA) is preferred for Hospice Aides.

Work Environment:
This position demands critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond appropriately to various situations.

Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience as an aide in a healthcare setting is essential.
- Experience in home care is preferred.
- Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an 8th-grade level is necessary.

Physical Requirements:
- Candidates must be able to move freely, including climbing stairs and assisting with patient mobility.
- The role involves medium physical demands, requiring the ability to exert varying levels of force to move objects.

Safety Protocols:
- Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
