Position Title: Director of Citizenship and Immigration Legal Services

Role Summary:

The Director of Citizenship and Immigration Legal Services plays a pivotal role in overseeing the citizenship initiative, which includes managing workshops, guiding volunteers, and facilitating application processes. This position is crucial for coordinating comprehensive Citizenship and Immigration Legal services. The Director will lead a team and serve as the primary contact for the Department of Justice, USCIS, and various community organizations involved in immigration and citizenship legal services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to enhance the Citizenship and Immigration Legal Services program, maximizing the potential of both staff and participants.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop staff, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.
  • Stay informed on evolving legislation affecting citizenship and immigration, ensuring program compliance and relevance.
  • Prepare and deliver timely reports to supervisors and funding partners.
  • Collaborate with other programs and initiatives within the Institute.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with funding organizations and program partners.
  • Assist in designing recruitment strategies for pro bono legal professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental colleagues, fostering a cohesive team environment.
  • Implement best practices in team dynamics, marketing, and client service.
  • Manage budgets effectively, coordinating with finance staff for ongoing financial oversight.
  • Exhibit cultural sensitivity towards clients while providing proactive leadership to the team.
  • Engage with community leaders and elected officials to promote program initiatives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings for program development and assessment.
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements to the department's business model, including service fee structures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a relevant field.
  • DOJ accreditation or substantial experience in immigration law.
  • Experience conducting citizenship workshops and understanding immigrant community issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong team player with the capability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong telephone communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Proficient in project management, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Adept at meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
