About the Role

The Account Executive 2 plays a critical role in Matson Navigation Company, Inc.'s success by serving as the primary liaison to import and export client sales accounts. This position is responsible for targeting, soliciting, negotiating, and maintaining business that aligns with the department's goals, including revenue, volume, service, origin/destination, equipment, and cargo. The Account Executive 2 must stay informed about market trends and opportunities to ensure timely and effective action. Consistent reporting is essential to measure progress and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and target westbound and eastbound accounts that align with management direction and departmental goals.
  • Solicit business that results in obtaining new business at the best possible revenue for the company.
  • Maintain accounts through relationship-building, reliability, and exceptional service to customers.
  • Respond to and resolve customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Report customer issues to other Matson organizations and groups, and provide follow-up to ensure a satisfactory resolution for the customer.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and internal departments to resolve issues.
  • Continuously canvass the market for new contacts and business opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate significant trends, rate changes, and policies to assigned accounts.
  • Learn and understand the territory to identify and establish business contacts with potential customers, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Create and submit reports of activity and recommendations as requested by Matson leadership.
  • Meet or exceed annual goals established between the Sales Manager - Oahu and the Account Executive based on the current Operating Plan.
  • Manage business meals and entertainment in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Research and analyze competitive and industry trends, including sales statistics, literature, and competitive activity.
  • Participate in trade associations and industry groups in the assigned account base as deemed by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of sales experience with a heavy emphasis on customer relationship management.
  • Experience managing specialized accounts, such as major accounts or reefers.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting up to 50 minutes per hour.
  • Walking up to 50 minutes per hour.
  • Standing up to 50 minutes per hour.
  • Lifting 40 lbs.
  • Travel: Neighbor islands, mainland, and south pacific.
  • Extended Hours: Ability to work varied hours (e.g. evenings, weekends, and holidays) as needed to support customer relationships/solicitation of business.
Compensation

The annual salary range for this position in Hawaii is $76,900 - $104,500. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
