Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Adult Basic Education Teacher to join our team at the Department of Corrections. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instruction and support to individuals in our care, helping them to achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement competency-based curricula to meet the individual needs of students
  • Facilitate and manage classroom environments to promote learning and engagement
  • Assess and report on student progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies for success
  • Work collaboratively with other program areas to provide comprehensive support to students
  • Monitor and manage student behavior, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or Special Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education in English, Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies
  • Bachelor's Degree with a major or minor in English, Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies
  • Bachelor's Degree with 15 combined semester credits in English, Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies
What We Offer

This position offers a competitive salary range of $29.13/hour - $34.03/hour, with opportunities for supplemental pay adjustments based on relevant credits and professional development actions. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
