Department:

Finance & Accounting Position Overview: The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing account reconciliations and conducting financial analyses while ensuring compliance with internal controls. This role primarily involves overseeing fixed asset transactions and generating management reports; assisting in the preparation of external financial statements; and verifying the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications. Key Responsibilities:

Job Duties:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and conduct month-end analyses, along with various reports and commentary for management, external Directors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate and review fixed asset capitalizations, retirements, and transfers across all facilities.
  • Compile consolidated analyses of various account balances and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Assist with special projects, year-end processes, and related responsibilities.
  • Draft written procedures outlining job responsibilities.
  • Participate in audits as necessary.
  • Maintain and update Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide mentorship to junior accounting personnel.
  • Assess and suggest enhancements to accounting processes and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • 3-6 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in a Microsoft Windows environment with a solid understanding of Microsoft Applications.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems is a plus.

Position Scope:

This role necessitates regular interaction with various departments, including Plant Accounting, IT, Distribution Facilities, and Financial Planning & Analysis.

The Senior Accountant must demonstrate a robust understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices, contributing to the evaluation and enhancement of accounting methods and procedures. With limited supervision, the incumbent will handle diverse assignments that require creativity and originality. This individual should also be prepared to take on supervisory responsibilities and serve as a resource for junior staff.

It is essential to adhere to established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal control efforts and to identify and report any deficiencies in internal controls to management.
