Position Overview

The Clinical Systems Coordinator plays a crucial role in the configuration, testing, and enhancement of the Hospital Information Systems (HIS) clinical modules. This position collaborates with various stakeholders within the healthcare environment, including clinicians, Medical Staff, Chief Nursing Officers (CNO), Associate Chief Nursing Officers (ACNO), the Education Department, fellow Clinical Systems Coordinators, and clinical department leaders to improve clinical workflows, elevate patient care quality, and ensure accurate reporting through designated Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the configuration, testing, and analysis of HIS clinical modules, providing ongoing software and user support as directed by the Director of Information Technology.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of HIS clinical system modules to differentiate between procedural challenges and system/application shortcomings, applying knowledge to propose effective solutions.
  • Document and track deficiencies or errors in software applications, coordinating timely corrective actions.
  • Engage directly with software vendors to resolve error messages or report application deficiencies.
  • Maintain effective communication with clinicians, Medical Staff, CNO, ACNO, and Clinical Department Directors regarding any issues or concerns related to clinical systems, fostering a positive information-sharing environment.
  • Collaborate with Systems Analysts of interfaced systems to ensure optimal performance, including testing new interfaces and system change requests to minimize user impact.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical systems policies, procedures, objectives, and safety standards related to HIS Clinical Systems.
  • Provide frontline support during the implementation of new clinical systems, including super user assessment and training.
  • Advocate for the importance of data integrity and security.
  • Review all vendor product updates and upgrades received from the Helpdesk.
  • Conduct system maintenance related to master files and clinical screen designs.
  • Assess the educational needs of nursing staff concerning clinical systems and charting standards.
  • Deliver ongoing education on new system enhancements and promote effective use of clinical systems.
  • Develop and document clinical systems education plans, policies, procedures, and manuals, including competency assessments.
  • Regularly engage with nursing units to document reported deficiencies and suggested improvements.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement and Nursing Leadership teams to support clinical systems initiatives.

Note: This position is designated as safety-sensitive.

Compensation: Wage Scale: $67.44
