Position Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned Civil Engineer with professional licensure to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing intricate site development initiatives, including port and cargo terminal projects as well as municipal infrastructure enhancements. Your expertise will be essential from the initial concept phase through to the preparation of construction documents and securing necessary permits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead construction projects by preparing detailed engineering designs and documentation while ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Analyze project concepts by reviewing architectural drawings and models to inform construction design.
  • Conduct thorough engineering assessments by collecting and analyzing data on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other relevant factors.
  • Estimate project costs by calculating labor, materials, and associated expenses.
  • Develop feasibility studies by evaluating engineering designs and conducting environmental impact assessments.
  • Create comprehensive engineering documents, including construction specifications, plans, and timelines.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and construction specifications by monitoring project progress and conducting site inspections.
  • Support project requirements by mentoring and guiding team members.
  • Maintain operational integrity by enforcing project policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical information and respond to inquiries from stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements by staying informed on relevant legislation and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Manage project databases through data entry and program development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Virginia or the ability to obtain it through reciprocity.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in civil engineering, particularly in heavy civil projects.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design, including roadway, paving, grading, drainage, hydraulics, and water and sewer systems.
  • Strong skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D; familiarity with MicroStation is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and complete work within established budgets and timelines.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check is required.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily office-based, with the necessity for travel as required. Proficiency in using standard office equipment is essential.
