This position is responsible for delivering efficient and safe care/services to patients of all ages and their families. The specialist aids in the communication and operational functions of the department, serving as a vital point of contact in both entry and inpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold confidentiality for patients, employees, physicians, and the organization; respect the rights and privacy of all individuals.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to Case Managers and other professionals involved in patient care; maintain ongoing communication regarding referral requests.
  • Handle incoming calls and written communications, directing them to the appropriate personnel and ensuring urgent matters are addressed promptly.
  • Engage with insurance providers to verify patient benefits as requested by case managers; notify relevant staff of any adverse determinations.
  • Coordinate updates regarding surgical procedures with the Business office for Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Maintain and update contact information for service providers and facilitate continuity of care.
  • Assist in the progression of patient care by gathering necessary documentation for referrals and monitoring patient outcomes.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, integrating efforts to achieve agreed-upon goals and effective discharge planning.
  • Ensure data accuracy by generating reports to confirm proper data entry into the hospital system.
  • Demonstrate the ability to balance cost-effectiveness with quality to achieve optimal clinical and financial results.
  • Organize and maintain insurance communication records and tracking logs.
  • Restock and manage social work and case management forms as required.
  • Complete additional projects and assignments to support departmental operations.
  • Exhibit the professional and technical competencies required for the assigned department.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of broad administrative or secretarial experience.
