We are seeking a dependable Project Engineer to join our team in the Gulf Coast Texas/Louisiana area. The Project Engineer's primary responsibilities will include the management of simple to moderately complex geotechnical engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage small to medium size projects from start to completion, including development of scope and fee, proposal preparation, and geotechnical analysis of moderately complex engineering problems.
- Direct junior staff members to complete geotechnical engineering services, assign tasks, monitor progress, and review the accuracy of completed work.
- Prepare proposals for simple to medium large geotechnical engineering projects, including review of available literature and development of site exploration and testing programs.
- Oversee field operations, including utility clearance, subconsultant, driller, and traffic control coordination, and logging activities.
- Review laboratory test results, compile and analyze field data, and perform geotechnical engineering analysis and develop solutions.
- Review labor and other expenses associated with projects, prepare and submit accurate invoices, and contact clients on invoicing and status of payment.
- Assist with the preparation of Statements of Qualifications and support business development activities.
- Adhere to and support the firm's safety policies and participate in the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and quality management practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school is required. Master's degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in a relevant field, with management of medium size engineering projects required.
- Must possess Professional Engineer's (PE) license in the State of Texas. If the P.E. licenses is obtained from a different state, P.E. license should be obtained in the State of Texas within six months of hiring.
- Possess a current valid state-issued driver's license and meet the company's auto insurability requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of computer operations, including Microsoft Office and other engineering programs.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and staff successfully, having clarity and understanding in order to prevent errors.
The employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl, and drive vehicle short and/or long distances. Frequently required stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Physical DemandsThe employee may be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration. Noise level is moderate.
Travel RequirementsThis position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work responsibilities require out of town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner office, client offices, and project locations.
