Position Overview
You will assume the role of Protocol Officer within the Secretary of the Navy's Office, entrusted with the comprehensive management of all protocol, conference, visit, and special event-related personnel.

Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include:

  • Directing and overseeing the planning and execution of all arrangements for SECNAV's social and official functions.
  • Ensuring that each visitor receives the utmost level of official recognition, with presentations and tours tailored to their security clearance.
  • Analyzing and evaluating significant changes in current events, assessing their potential impacts, advantages, and political ramifications to provide informed advice.

Employment Conditions
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be deemed suitable for federal employment.
  • Must enroll in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New hires to the Department of the Navy must successfully complete the E-Verify employment verification process.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector. Relevant experience includes:

  • Leading the organization of command social and official functions, including visits, conferences, and receptions.
  • Developing comprehensive policies and guidelines governing all aspects of planning and executing visits and events to support the Navy's objectives.
  • Engaging with representatives from regional or national professional organizations, congressional offices, and senior officials.

Additional Information
This position is subject to the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program, and additional vacancies may be filled through this announcement. Candidates must meet all pre-employment requirements, including drug testing and security clearance acquisition.
