Position Overview:

As a Cloud Services Engineer at The Middlesex Corporation, you will report directly to the IT Director and be an integral part of our Information Technology team. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the performance, reliability, and management of our cloud-based IT infrastructure. This role encompasses evaluating emerging technologies, providing hands-on technical support, enhancing standards and processes, and managing vendor relationships. You will collaborate with the existing team and take on a significant hands-on role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations to guarantee the performance, reliability, and capacity of cloud systems.
  • Identify, procure, and implement Microsoft 365 solutions that align with corporate standards.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing for the organization, optimizing costs while identifying opportunities for upgrades or consolidations.
  • Develop and maintain cloud solutions that support the strategic objectives of the company.
  • Deploy new applications to the cloud and facilitate the migration of existing applications from on-premises to cloud environments.
  • Optimize resource utilization to enhance cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure data security and adherence to industry compliance standards.
  • Assist in defining, procuring, and implementing IT infrastructure and services that meet organizational standards and guidelines.
  • Identify and communicate resource needs to support cloud technologies.
  • Lead initiatives related to data center consolidations and a cloud-first strategy.
  • Provide L2/3 support for the end-user computing environment and assist during significant projects and high support volume periods.
  • Monitor, plan, and coordinate the distribution of software updates, policies, security patches, and service packs.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation while driving process improvements through standard operating procedures.
  • Mentor service desk personnel, fostering a collaborative team environment and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide on-call support during non-standard business hours as necessary.
  • Occasional travel may be required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems, cloud, and IT support.
  • Proficient in Windows Servers, Microsoft O365, Entra ID, Azure, Intune, and Defender.
  • Basic understanding of Windows domains, Group Policy Objects, and Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with VMware and Meraki is advantageous.
  • Experience in analyzing, implementing, and evaluating IT systems and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, and cloud concepts (e.g., PaaS, SaaS, IaaS).
  • Familiarity with technologies and systems specific to the construction industry is a plus.
