Position Overview:

As a Cloud Services Engineer at The Middlesex Corporation, you will report directly to the IT Director and be an integral part of a dedicated team focused on ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and management of our cloud-based IT infrastructure. Your role will encompass evaluating innovative technologies, providing hands-on technical assistance, enhancing standards and processes, and managing vendor relationships. This position is designed to support and strengthen our existing team while allowing you to take a proactive, hands-on approach.

Reports to: IT Director

Status: Full-Time, Salary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations to guarantee the performance, stability, and scalability of cloud systems.
  • Identify, acquire, and implement Microsoft 365 solutions that align with corporate standards.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, optimizing costs while identifying opportunities for consolidation or upgrades.
  • Design and maintain cloud solutions that support organizational goals.
  • Deploy new applications in the cloud and transition existing applications from on-premises to cloud environments.
  • Optimize resource utilization to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Safeguard data security and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Assist in defining, acquiring, and implementing IT infrastructure, support, and services in accordance with corporate standards.
  • Identify, coordinate, and communicate resource needs to support cloud technologies.
  • Lead initiatives related to data center consolidations and a cloud-first strategy.
  • Provide Level 2/3 support for the end-user computing environment and assist during major projects and high support demand periods.
  • Monitor, plan, and coordinate the distribution of software, policies, hotfixes, security patches, and service packs.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation while driving process improvements through standard operating procedures.
  • Mentor service desk personnel, fostering a collaborative team environment and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide on-call support during non-standard business hours as required.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems, cloud, and IT support.
  • Proficient in Windows Servers, Microsoft O365, Entra ID, Azure, Intune, and Defender.
  • Basic understanding of Windows domains, Group Policy Objects, and Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with VMware and Meraki is advantageous.
  • Experience in analyzing, implementing, and evaluating IT systems and their specifications.
  • Strong grasp of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, and cloud concepts (e.g., PaaS, SaaS, IaaS).
  • Knowledge of construction industry-specific technologies, systems, and concepts is a plus.
