Position Overview:
The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is looking for a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide exceptional care for patients with Orthopaedic Trauma.
As a member of the Shock Trauma Center, you will play a crucial role in a trauma team that supports patients from their initial admission through to their discharge.
This role involves working four 10-hour shifts with rotating days.
New Graduates with Orthopaedic experience are encouraged to apply.
The NP/PA will conduct examinations, evaluations, and assessments, as well as interpret clinical data to deliver comprehensive care to patients suffering from orthopaedic injuries. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of professional practice. Our Orthopaedics Department serves as a key referral center for patients throughout Maryland and beyond.
This position requires flexibility, as you will alternate between working on the hospital floor and in an outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct patient interviews to gather health histories and perform thorough physical examinations.
2. Order and assess appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
3. Document health histories, progress notes, and treatment plans.
4. Serve as a liaison between patients and physicians to coordinate recommended care, including pre- and post-operative support.
5. Provide care to patients in both clinic and hospital environments.
6. Engage in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement meetings.
