Job Summary:

As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of guests at our swimming pool. You will be the first point of contact for guests and will be responsible for enforcing pool rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide lifeguard services and monitor swimming pool activities to maintain a safe and healthy environment for guests.
  • Enforce and assure guest compliance with pool rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Observe and control behavior of guests in the pool and surrounding area in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Identify pool health and safety issues, threats, and incidents and respond accordingly.
  • Administer first aid to guests as necessary.
  • Greet and provide general information and assistance to pool guests.
  • Monitor and assess equipment and activities for safety concerns.
  • Maintain routine records and logs related to trainings and assigned activities.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.
Qualifications:

The incumbent must be 15 years old, with a preference for age 16. The incumbent must be able to swim 200 yards nonstop using freestyle or breaststroke, tread water for continuously for at least 2 minutes, retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the diving well, and be able to climb out of the pool without the use of the stairs or ladders.

The incumbent must be knowledgeable in rescue skills, CPR, First Aid, and AED. The employee must have strong oral and written communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and hear. The employee is required to have dexterity of hands and fingers. The employee is required to sit and stand for extended periods of time. The employee must perform assigned duties which require bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead, above shoulders, and horizontally. The employee will be required to push/pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Must be able to swim at least 200 yards of freestyle/breaststroke without stopping, retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the diving well, must be able to tread water continuously for at least 2 minutes, and be able to climb out of the pool without the use of the stairs or ladder.
