Field Service Engineer for Electron Microscopes

ThisWay is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team of experts in the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electron microscopes at customer facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics and a proven track record of working independently to ensure equipment is fully functional and meets customer specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Install new or modified electron microscopes at customer facilities to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair electron microscopes within the assigned territory.
  • Review reports and documentation from customers and inspect malfunctioning instruments to determine the nature and scope of the problem.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, supervisors, and other relevant parties to accomplish tasks.
  • Resolve instrument problems or prepare reports of findings and recommendations; refer complex issues to the appropriate individuals.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in resolving technical issues.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Complete and submit field service reports and weekly expense reports.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in engineering or a related science field from an accredited institution, plus at least 6 months of experience in electronics or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to travel by car to customer sites for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electron microscopes.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Hands-on experience with the installation and repair of equipment.
  • Knowledge of analog, digital, and RF electronics.
  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting techniques and approaches.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, and assess complex mechanical components.
