Position Overview:
As a Technical Support Engineer in the Portland, Oregon region, you will engage in daily travel to client locations to set up scientific equipment and deliver hands-on technical assistance. Your role will involve routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and the repair of electron microscopes for various clients.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Install new or modified electron microscopes at client facilities to ensure optimal functionality in accordance with specifications.
2. Independently diagnose and rectify issues with electron microscopes within your designated territory.
3. Inspect malfunctioning instruments to ascertain the nature and extent of problems.
4. Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, supervisors, and other relevant parties to facilitate work completion.
5. Exercise discretion and independent judgment when resolving technical issues.
6. Provide on-site technical support to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
7. Complete and submit field service reports along with weekly expense documentation.


Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in engineering or a related scientific field.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience in electronics or a related area.
- Exceptional customer service abilities.
- Practical technical experience in the installation and repair of scientific equipment.
- Proficiency in applying analog, digital, and RF electronics principles.
- A foundational understanding of troubleshooting techniques.
- A valid driver's license and passport are mandatory.
- Anticipate up to 30% overnight travel.
