Position Overview:


The Senior Mechanical Procurement Manager is tasked with implementing category strategies for designated Mechanical Equipment sourcing, execution, and supplier oversight.

This role encompasses various systems such as Air Handling Units (AHUs), Rooftop Units (RTUs), Chillers, Fire Suppression Systems, Plumbing, and Building Automation Control Systems, along with their significant components and connections.


Key Responsibilities:
Provide subject matter expert (SME) level technical and commercial guidance to projects and operations throughout the direct procurement process, whether directly or via subcontractors.

Oversee all aspects of direct procurement strategies across multiple projects.


Assist project teams in executing thorough planning that addresses both technical and commercial dimensions, develop project-specific scopes of work for equipment suppliers and/or manufacturers, ensure bidder prequalification, and facilitate RFP/RFQ development.


Lead or support commercial and technical bid assessments, make award recommendations, implement cost-reduction strategies, draft and review purchase orders, and manage post-award administration for select major mechanical packages.

Ensure that the sourcing process aligns with contract terms and established practices.

Participate in coordination meetings, authorize suppliers for fabrication, monitor delivery schedules, attend factory witness tests, and engage in other inspection activities as necessary. Coordinate delivery logistics, verify major package receipts, and facilitate pre-commissioning meetings while collaborating with engineering/design teams, suppliers, manufacturers, trade contractors, project teams, clients, and jobsite personnel to ensure seamless project execution post-award for major mechanical packages.

Proactively track, report, and act to guarantee timely equipment delivery. Collaborate with vendors to develop alternative solutions for management approval in case of delivery delays.

Provide general technical category support for Business Development, Pre-Construction, Purchasing, estimating, and other internal stakeholders.

Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and trade contractors, supported by technical expertise in mechanical systems. Capable of managing and supporting multiple external client transactions and engagements.

Foster and nurture positive and professional relationships both internally and externally with trade contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders (Preconstruction, Estimating, Purchasing, and Operations).

Contribute critical SME insights to quarterly company market conditions reports.

Manage and lead several diverse projects simultaneously, adapting to frequently changing priorities.

Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION


10-15 years of relevant industry experience in engineering, sourcing, supply chain, procurement, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical engineering, mechanical contracting, MEP roles in construction, and commercial operations.

A Bachelor's Degree in engineering, supply chain, or a related field is preferred.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
