Aerospace Systems Specialist

a.i. solutions is seeking a dedicated Aerospace Systems Specialist who is enthusiastic about the aerospace sector. This role involves collaborating within a team as the main liaison for spacecraft operations engineering tasks. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing engineering insights and leadership to meet operational engineering needs. Candidates should have a robust understanding of space operations engineering, ground systems engineering, training, and satellite command and control. The ideal individual will align with the a.i. solutions mission of consistently fulfilling customer needs and striving to surpass their expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and/or engage in space mission Pre-Launch, L&EO, and On-Orbit operations activities, fulfilling roles such as mission lead, evaluation engineer, or senior operator as designated.
- Achieve certification as a space mission operations engineer on various experimental satellite missions.
- Assist in system readiness, planning, preparation, execution, and operations crew evaluation for satellite launch and early orbit operations, on-orbit operations, and end-of-life retirement/disposal.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to program leadership concerning satellite issues, ground system malfunctions, or operator mistakes.
- Facilitate engineering reviews and participate in engineering boards and configuration boards, both internally and with government representatives.
- Develop engineering test plans and documentation, and support the creation and assessment of operational procedures established by program mission leads.
- Engage directly with program management, cross-functional stakeholders, suppliers, customers, team members, and government representatives, ensuring effective communication, including providing engineering project or mission updates as necessary.
- Formulate a long-term strategic plan for operational engineering and testing objectives.
- Encourage a corporate culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and professional growth within the team.
- Oversee personnel management and supervisory tasks as needed, including timekeeping, performance evaluations, recruitment assistance, and supporting team professional development.
- Identify and cultivate opportunities for technical or business process enhancements.
- Build strong relationships with customers and team members to ensure the delivery of our corporate commitments and successful mission support.
- Participate in corporate initiatives, business development, opportunity capture, and proposal generation efforts.
- Be available for flexible hours, including potential night and weekend work on an on-call basis.
- Occasional travel may be required, estimated at 10%.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in space operations, space engineering, or ground systems engineering.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001/AS9100.
- TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Master's degree in engineering or a technical discipline.
- Extensive experience in space operations and space engineering.
- Strong background in personnel management and supervisory roles.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a technical environment.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing challenges, including innovations that yield positive organizational outcomes.
