Patient Access Representative, Behavioral Health Specialist

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital (WDH) is a leading healthcare provider in the New Hampshire and Southern Maine Seacoast Region. Our multi-specialty group practice offers a wide range of services, from wellness and illness prevention to testing, treatment, and care of complex medical conditions.
The OpportunityWe are seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing in and outbound calls, scheduling and registration functions for patients of WDH. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, create new patient medical records, verify insurance eligibility, collect demographic information, and offer applicable documents.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience minimum of 1 year working in a customer service setting required.
- Minimum of 6 months experience working in a customer service setting, and/or clerical experience, or equivalent education required.
- Possess a high level of empathy and compassion for individuals struggling with both mental health and substance use disorders.
- Have a general disposition that people would describe as caring.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and insurance authorization preferred.
- Strong computer skills.
