Position Summary:

Assist and motivate clients engaged in residential recovery programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assist clients' daily routines and administer medications in accordance with established guidelines.
  • In a supportive manner, observe, encourage, hold accountable, and document client behaviors.
  • Execute all tasks and interactions with clients using a Trauma-Informed approach; strive to comprehend their experiences and their significance.
  • Support clients in a respectful and professional manner. Aid with daily tasks such as cooking and cleaning while fostering positive communication. Dedicate time to engage with clients in communal areas after completing assigned tasks.
  • Maintain vigilance and alertness during work hours and fulfill all required responsibilities across various shifts.
  • Complete and perform all shift-related duties, including:
    • Documenting, transporting, maintaining cleanliness at workstations, accurately recording prescribed medications taken by clients, and ensuring correct dosages are consumed.
    • Ensuring clients' safety throughout the shift, securing doors, checking that appliances are turned off, monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures, identifying maintenance needs, and securing all facility areas.
  • Administer assigned Urine Analysis and Breathalyzer tests, complete necessary documentation, and report findings to clinical staff.
  • Utilize agency vehicles to transport clients safely to various locations, including community support meetings and emergency situations.
  • Accurately document interactions with clients and observations made during shifts in a non-judgmental and factual manner.
  • Conduct scheduled emergency drills, such as fire and tornado drills, as assigned.
  • Facilitate group sessions for clients, including homework, orientation, exercise, psychoeducation, and other meetings as required by the Program Coordinator.
  • Respond to crisis situations calmly and effectively, communicating with staff and adhering to emergency protocols.
  • Exhibit and maintain appropriate interactions and boundaries with clients.
  • Employ active listening skills, motivational interviewing, and self-awareness when engaging with clients. Attend to their needs in an empowering manner.
  • Regularly participate in mandatory program Mentor and All Staff Meetings, with a minimum attendance of 8 meetings per year required.
  • Full-Time Mentors are expected to work at least three holidays annually; Part-Time and On-Call Mentors are required to work at least two holidays per year.
  • On-Call Mentors must complete a minimum of 24 hours of work each month.
  • Complete all monthly and annual online training courses on time, in compliance with state and accrediting organizations' training requirements.
  • Attend at least two training sessions annually focused on cultural competency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Proficient time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to conduct oneself with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR confidentiality requirements, ensuring the safekeeping of client-related materials.
  • Support St. Monica's Home in its commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplace.
  • Comply with all agency and program policies and procedures, including those related to philosophy, confidentiality, ethics, and safety.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree in Human Services or a minimum of 2 years of coursework in the Human Services Field, or 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • First Aid/CPR and Medication Aide certification required or the ability to obtain certification.
  • A valid driver's license and insurance are required upon hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. regularly and navigate stairs.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
