YOUR NEXT ROLE:

The Assistant Project Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Accountant by delivering essential financial services for various projects. This includes contract evaluations, billing processes, work-in-progress reporting, and managing payments for subcontractors and general conditions, as well as cash flow reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation and posting of monthly progress billings.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual billing stipulations.
  • Help maintain and distribute weekly updates on Productivity Rate tracking spreadsheets.
  • Support the analysis of cash position and projections.
  • Assist in auditing project billings to confirm all costs are submitted for payment.
  • Collaborate with operations to prepare monthly cost-to-complete estimates.
  • Support the monthly cost-to-complete review meetings with Operations and Finance.
  • Note that the duties outlined are intended to provide a general overview of the role and may include additional responsibilities as required by the business unit.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Business Suite or similar enterprise-level financial software is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities as needed.
  • Capable of working under pressure and adjusting to evolving requirements with a positive demeanor.
  • Effective interaction with all levels of staff, including management, vendors, and clients.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle experience is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Self-driven and proactive in approach.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management support, ideally within a construction context.
  • A combination of education, training, and relevant experience will also be considered.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Up to 10% travel may be necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • General office environment involving prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, typing, and occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
  • Work is primarily conducted indoors with varying conditions, including fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise levels are typically low to medium, with potential for increased noise on job sites.
