Your Role

We are seeking a knowledgeable Energy Domain Subject Matter Expert (SME) to enhance our product team. The SME will be instrumental in adapting our offerings for energy retailers in the USA, particularly in deregulated markets. This position requires extensive collaboration with various teams, providing expert insights into the local energy landscape, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise to ensure our solutions are effectively tailored to regional demands, maximizing value for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Energy Retail Domain Expertise:
  • Act as the primary authority on the energy sector within the product team, offering comprehensive knowledge of the local market, including regulations and best practices.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of energy retailer operations, including pricing, forecasting, and portfolio analysis.
  • Keep abreast of regional energy trends, policy developments, and technological advancements to guide product strategy.
Product Localization:
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, and designers to adapt Gorilla's offerings for the US market.
  • Ensure that our products comply with local regulations and effectively address the challenges faced by regional energy retailers.
  • Conduct product testing and gather feedback to confirm that industry-specific features function correctly and align with best practices.
Training and Support:
  • Deliver training and support to internal teams and external partners regarding local energy market dynamics and product features.
  • Create documentation and resources to facilitate the regional adoption of our solutions.
Market Analysis:
  • Collaborate with product managers, marketers, and researchers to conduct competitive analysis and identify opportunities in the local market.
  • Provide strategic insights to inform market entry and expansion initiatives in the US.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Serve as the liaison between the product team and local stakeholders, including customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Collect and synthesize feedback from local users to guide product improvements and feature development.

  • In-depth knowledge of the US energy retail market, with proven expertise in regulations and industry trends.
  • Experience in a product development setting, ideally within a SaaS or technology-focused organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of translating complex industry requirements into actionable product insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
A Day in the Life of an SME

Morning:
  • Review updates on local energy market regulations and industry news.
  • Participate in a virtual stand-up meeting with the product team to discuss progress and priorities.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to evaluate the latest product features, providing insights on compliance and market needs.
Midday:
  • Engage in discussions with local energy retailers to gather feedback on the current product version.
Afternoon:
  • Conduct a training session for the sales team, focusing on the unique aspects of the local energy market.
  • Develop documentation and resources to support product localization efforts.
  • Summarize findings and share insights with the broader product team.
  • Plan for the next day's tasks, ensuring alignment with overall product strategy.
  • Stay updated on industry reports and publications to remain informed about emerging trends.
