Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will oversee front desk operations, patient scheduling, and registration processes. Your role will include verifying insurance eligibility, making reminder calls, managing check-in/out procedures, and handling payment collections, while also covering phone and fax communications.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as the initial point of contact for patients, visitors, staff, students, and faculty.
  2. Address inquiries and resolve moderate customer service issues, escalating more complex matters to management as necessary; follow departmental protocols for directing patients and visitors to the appropriate areas.
  3. Deliver exceptional customer and patient service by scheduling appointments and providing telephone support.
  4. Manage incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate personnel and conveying essential information.
  5. Engage with customers in a respectful, professional, and cooperative manner.
  6. Retrieve and organize medical records, update patient information, and ensure that patient documents are accurately scanned into electronic systems.
  7. Identify payer sources, confirm insurance eligibility, assess financial status, and assign the correct payment type.
  8. Assist patients during the check-in process; utilize electronic medical records systems for patient check-out, including data entry, charge/payment posting, and information retrieval.
  9. Handle the faxing, copying, and distribution of medical records for both physicians and patients.
  10. Maintain the confidentiality of all medical records and patient information.
  11. Collaborate effectively with all clinic staff, including management, nursing, and medical personnel.
  12. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required, with a basic understanding of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience is required.
Certification/Licensing: None required.

Preferred Experience: Experience in the optometric field is preferred.
