The Senior Construction Project Manager oversees construction initiatives, ensuring timely completion in alignment with project specifications and plans. This role involves directing and supervising construction personnel, architects, engineers, and support staff while conducting inspections of facility construction.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Addresses construction phasing, contractor conflicts, and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Oversees the processing status of contract submissions, ensuring prompt actions to meet contract requirements.
  • Facilitates regular progress meetings among contractors, designers, and inspectors to discuss procedures, progress, scheduling, and modifications to the work.
  • Monitors the implementation and adherence to safety programs by contractors.
  • Reviews proposed changes to construction contracts, ensuring accurate application and interpretation of contract documents.
  • Ensures effective resolution and correction of Notices of Non-Compliance.
  • Evaluates contractor-submitted schedules and monitors monthly schedule submissions.
  • Establishes and continuously evaluates the effectiveness of internal controls within the unit, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensures staff are trained on internal controls and University policies and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Certification and Licensing:

Not Applicable.

Experience:

A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Understanding of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and assess departmental operations.
  • Capability to establish departmental goals and objectives that align with the strategic plan.
  • Proficiency in planning, delegating, and supervising the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train team members.
  • Commitment to the core values of the University.
