Position Overview

The Kogod School of Business at American University is seeking qualified adjunct faculty members to enhance our Finance and Real Estate programs. Key Responsibilities
  • Course Delivery: Provide stimulating and effective instruction in various courses within the business curriculum. Develop comprehensive course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, assignments, and assessments, ensuring they meet program objectives and industry standards.
  • Student Support: Create an inclusive and encouraging learning atmosphere that promotes student success. Offer guidance, constructive feedback, and mentorship to help students grasp course concepts and achieve their academic goals.
  • Professional Development: Remain informed about the latest trends, research, and best practices in business education. Engage in professional growth activities, such as presenting at conferences and attending workshops, to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Complete necessary administrative tasks related to teaching, including grade submissions, attendance management, and communication with students and departmental staff.
Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a relevant field from an AACSB-accredited institution is required; a doctoral degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in the subject areas being taught, supported by current professional affiliations and relevant licensure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage diverse student populations.
  • A commitment to excellence in teaching, a student-centered approach, and a focus on continuous improvement.
