Washington, Washington, D.C., United States 5 Legal Full time
Position Overview

Join a dynamic legal environment where you can thrive.

Role: Real Estate Counsel

Experience Required: 7+ years

Location: Washington DC

We are seeking a highly skilled Real Estate Counsel to join a prestigious Amlaw 200 firm located in Washington DC. This role is ideal for a seasoned Real Estate Senior Associate or Counsel eager to engage in significant transactions while enjoying a balanced lifestyle.

This boutique firm, known for its lifestyle approach, successfully competes with larger firms and financial institutions on major deals. It offers a supportive platform for attorneys looking to advance their careers without the pressures of a traditional high-stakes environment.

The firm provides a unique opportunity for those currently at AmLaw 100 firms who may feel constrained by high billing rates, the inability to cultivate a client base, or dissatisfaction with extensive hours.

With a dedicated Business Development team, the firm invests in its attorneys, offering resources to help them grow their practices. The small yet efficient team handles a variety of transactions, primarily focusing on issuer-side deals.

The types of transactions include:

  • Multifamily developments
  • Shopping center projects
  • Real estate development ventures

Experience with REITs is highly desirable for this position.

If you possess over 7 years of expertise in Real Estate law and are interested in exploring this opportunity further, we encourage you to reach out for a detailed discussion.

Compensation for a 7th-year Associate transitioning to Counsel is projected at $285k, with potential for advancement to Special Counsel level, reaching a maximum compensation of $330k.

The firm maintains a billable target of 1900 hours for the first tier bonus of $25k, with a second tier bonus of approximately $50k for those achieving 2200 hours. Additionally, discretionary bonuses could elevate overall earnings to around $90k.

Employees benefit from 50 wellness hours, which can be allocated to billable work, non-billable activities, or vacation time. Utilizing these hours towards billable time effectively reduces the target to 1850 hours, allowing for a more manageable workday.
