Job Summary:

Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal to join our Washington, DC office and become a key member of our nationally-recognized real estate finance team. As a Paralegal in this role, you will be responsible for providing critical support to our attorneys in structuring, documenting, closing, servicing, and restructuring real estate loans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of documentation for closings, including organizing, proofreading, and assembling documents
  • Conducting due-diligence review
  • Review of opinions
  • Review of title, survey, and zoning documents
  • Drafting loan documents
  • Drafting assignment documents
  • Coordinating closing and post-closing logistics, including closing binders
  • Preparing UCC Financing Statements
  • Management of online SharePoint sites
  • Researching industry databases, publicly-available information from local governments, and applicable law

Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a Paralegal in real estate finance or transactional finance or real estate
  • Experience with title and survey review
  • Experience demonstrating written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate level of technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel) and document management systems
