As a pivotal figure in our operations, the Automotive Body Repair Manager is responsible for driving business growth through effective relationships with insurance adjusters, clients, and various stakeholders. This role ensures a profitable department while upholding high standards of customer satisfaction and expense management. The manager will oversee the body shop team, ensuring timely and quality repairs.

Automotive Body Repair Manager - Key Responsibilities
  • Set and pursue departmental goals and objectives.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate the performance of body shop personnel.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the body shop.
  • Coordinate and assign tasks to body shop staff.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance adjusters.
  • Foster positive interactions with customers to promote repeat business.
  • Implement strategic marketing initiatives to boost body shop revenue.
  • Review daily productivity reports and payroll for technicians.
  • Provide accurate estimates for repair costs and timelines.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on parts orders for repair jobs.
  • Oversee the repair process to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed repairs to minimize comebacks.
  • Address customer complaints promptly in line with company policies.
  • Manage documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare final invoices for completed repairs.
  • Oversee accounts receivable related to body repair services.
  • Stay informed on regulations affecting body shop operations and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of safety equipment.
  • Facilitate ongoing technical training for staff and recommend external training as needed.
  • Maintain the condition of equipment and facilities for long-term use.
  • Stay updated on new tools and equipment, making recommendations for purchases.
  • Ensure cleanliness in work areas and customer waiting areas.
  • Participate in management meetings.
  • Uphold a professional appearance at all times.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.
Automotive Body Repair Manager - Qualifications

Automotive Body Repair Manager - Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a one-year certificate program from a college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to four years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four to ten years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Automotive Body Repair Manager - Language Proficiency
  • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational manuals, and procedure guidelines. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence. Proficient in effectively communicating with groups of customers or employees.
