POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marine Service Operations Supervisor works under the guidance of the Marine Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing and directing daily activities of team members in the Marine Service department within a Bass Pro Shops or Free-Standing Store, focusing on inventory management, customer service, warranty processing, rigging, delivery, detailing, and parts operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Marine Manager in achieving financial objectives for the Service department, including Service and Parts Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory Control, and Payroll Management.
- Provides daily leadership and guidance to team members in the Service Department.
- Coordinates and prioritizes all service, rigging, and warranty tasks; ensures timely completion of work orders to meet customer expectations.
- Strives to enhance team productivity and efficiency.
- Maintains a safe, organized, and secure work environment.
- Commits to delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for all patrons.
- Collaborates with the Marine Manager to recruit customer-focused team members; participates in the hiring process, facilitates training, and provides input on performance evaluations; prepares weekly schedules; motivates and coaches staff to foster a collaborative and customer-centric atmosphere.
- Addresses customer and employee concerns in partnership with the Marine Manager.
- Assists the Marine Manager in organizing special events, including boat shows and promotional activities.
- Manages and verifies the accuracy of inventory for units and parts.
- Ensures timely submission and processing of warranty claims.
- Guarantees that products are properly prepared for delivery and that unit handovers are conducted professionally and courteously.
- Supports the Marine Manager in fulfilling additional supervisory duties in line with company policies and legal standards, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, resolving complaints, and fostering a respectful work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: 2-4 years in the Retail Marine industry or a related field; supervisory experience is advantageous.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in calculating figures such as discounts and percentages.
- Adept at reading and interpreting reports.
- Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing inquiries from management, team members, customers, and the public.
- Skilled in conducting meetings and presentations.
- Proficient with computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory management systems.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and corporate staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly engages in computer work, walking, and standing.
- Occasionally sits and lifts items weighing up to 50 lbs.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:
- Operates within the framework of general company policies and objectives. Analyzes issues and conducts needs assessments. Exercises judgment in applying broad guidelines to achieve desired outcomes. Regularly utilizes independent judgment within accepted practices and makes recommendations impacting policies and procedures.
