The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join our Administrative Services leadership team.
The Deputy Director, Office of Business Services, serves as a high-level policy advisor and expert on the Department's procurement matters, correspondence control operations, property/fleet management programs, as well as overall administration of statewide contract activities, and managing the Department's multi-billion-dollar budget.
This position requires a strong understanding of business development processes, contract administration, and budget management. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including executive management, staff, and external partners.
The Deputy Director will provide consultative and advisory expertise to Executive Management on business development processes for the Department. This includes developing and implementing strategies to improve procurement processes, managing contract activities, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, with two days in office each week. Specific telework schedules may be discussed further during the interview process. Telework is only available to residents of California. This position is based in Sacramento, in the Rancho Cordova area. Some travel may be required.

If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
Candidates new to the Department are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
