Job Description and Duties

The Deputy Director for Community Investment and Planning is a key member of the Governor's Office of Planning and Research's Senior Leadership team. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the incumbent is responsible for managing a portfolio of community development and infrastructure investment programs, with a focus on innovative and high-profile initiatives. This includes overseeing the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program, the Transformative Climate Communities Program, and other similar programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of community development and infrastructure investment programs, with a focus on innovative and high-profile initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of program strategies and policies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including state agencies, local governments, and community organizations, to advance program goals and objectives.
  • Provide public-facing representation for the Governor's Office of Planning and Research, including speaking at public events and testifying before the State Legislature.
Working Conditions

The incumbent is expected to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent travel and public speaking required. The position may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 25 lbs. The Governor's Office of Planning and Research offers a hybrid telework schedule, and occasional overnight travel up to 10% may be required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community development and infrastructure investment, with experience in program management and policy development. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate complex information to diverse audiences, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
