Deputy Director

The California Department of Public Health is seeking a highly qualified Deputy Director to lead the Center for Health Care Quality. This key role will direct, coordinate, and manage policies, strategies, and programs to ensure uniform program direction and maximum efficiency.
About the Center for Health Care Quality
The Center for Health Care Quality is responsible for ensuring health care facilities comply with state laws and regulations. The Deputy Director will exercise discretion and sound judgment when making programmatic decisions to promote consistent and effective application of mandates and directives.
About the Role
The Deputy Director will serve as a member of the CDPH Senior Leadership Team and will be responsible for staying current with changes in public policy, legislation, and laws as it pertains to the healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will have strong political acumen and experience working with elected and appointed public officials as well as community leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and direct key public health programs.
- Plan for and manage changes in department priorities.
- Communicate effectively with the Health and Human Services Agency, CDPH executives, and other stakeholders.
- Function as part of an executive management team and plan, develop, and implement department policies and priorities.
Desirable Qualifications
- Ability to lead and manage key public health programs.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare quality and safety, and the health care delivery system in California.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
