Job Summary

The Governor's Office of Planning and Research is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Deputy Director for Community Investment and Planning. This critical role plays a key part in the Senior Leadership team, reporting directly to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the community development and infrastructure investment portfolio, which encompasses approximately $1 billion in program grants annually. This includes managing key programs such as the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program (AHSC) and the Transformative Climate Communities Program (TCC).
  • Joint Efforts: Coordinate and oversee joint efforts with other departments, including the Housing and Community Development's Regional Early Action Plan (REAP).
  • Representation: Represent the Governor's Office of Planning and Research at public events, expert panels, media interviews, and State Legislature sessions.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Must be capable of lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Primarily involves sitting with occasional walking or standing.
  • Telework: Potential participation in OPR's hybrid telework schedule.
  • Travel: Up to 10% travel may be required.
  • Residency: Residency in California is mandatory for all OPR employees.
