Your role will involve supporting a variety of scientific and engineering initiatives for underwater acoustic sensor systems. This includes tasks related to system architecture, assessment, modeling, creation, assembly, testing, validation, and strategic planning essential for the effective demonstration of production-level systems, alongside research and development of novel systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing on underwater active and passive acoustic systems, focusing on array configuration, sonar signal processing, beamforming, acoustic communication, and automated detection and classification.
  • Assist in the design, modeling, creation, and testing of underwater transducers and sonar imaging systems.
  • Engage in simulation and analysis regarding environmental interactions with acoustic signals.
  • Prepare, participate in, and present technical briefings in accordance with IEEE standards such as SRR, PDR, and CDR to both internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to the drafting of technical and cost proposals.
  • Take responsibility for requirements derivation, traceability, systems integration and testing, performance validation, and data analysis for sonar sensor systems.
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting sonar-related system-level issues alongside a diverse team of engineers and technicians.
  • Coordinate team efforts and responses to customer trouble reports using project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or a related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Practical experience in acoustic testing.

The salary range for this position is competitive; however, Areté considers various factors when extending an employment offer, including the role's responsibilities, the candidate's experience, education, and key skills.

Additional Requirements:

U.S. citizenship is necessary to meet position eligibility. Selected candidates will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
