Contact Government Services, LLC is looking for a Mid-Level Accounting Technician to enhance our team in support of a significant federal agency's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adjust payroll and labor transactions through reorganization processing.
  • Ensure compliance with federal travel policies and regulations.
  • Verify, analyze, and maintain financial data utilized by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller.
  • Employ various electronic systems and databases, such as UFMS, JEDI, and SAFARI, to interpret complex data sets.
  • Utilize software tools to document and retrieve financial information, particularly concerning reimbursement and billing processes.
  • Manage a financial system to monitor expenditures across multiple accounts.
  • Generate reconciliation reports and conduct weekly reconciliations of financial records.
  • Prepare financial documentation for review and approval by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller and other federal agencies.
  • Provide assistance and support to other DOJ sections in transaction processing and recommend solutions for system errors.
  • Draft memorandums and correspondence related to financial reports and activities, as well as communication with external vendors and agencies.
  • Organize and maintain office files, manage databases, schedule meetings, and assist with virtual conferences.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned or initiated that are essential for regular or special projects within the division.
  • Collaborate with team members as required.

Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in accounting or a bachelor’s degree in a related field (finance, business, banking, or economics) with at least 30 credit hours in accounting.
  • Familiarity with both manual and automated accounting systems used in financial institutions.
  • Experience with commitments, obligations, and interagency reimbursement agreements.
  • Knowledge of the quarterly review, accrual, and closeout processes.
  • Ability to provide analytical and technical support for various financial operations.
  • Proficiency in identifying and analyzing changes in budgetary and financial activities.
  • Strong research and analytical skills in financial data.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in UFMS, JEDI, SAFARI, E2, and Excel.
  • Experience in Budgeting Cycle Management.
  • Knowledge of Financial Management principles.
  • Skills in Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) processing.
  • Experience in managing reimbursable agreements.
  • Familiarity with obligations processing and tracking committed funds.
  • Background in auditing and accounting services.
  • Competence in cash flow analysis and statistical evaluation.
  • Experience in financial fraud-related research.
  • Skills in electronic data acquisition and processing.
  • Knowledge of systems analysis and administration.
  • Ability to provide database user support and reporting.
  • Familiarity with record management and business legal compliance.
  • Experience in special projects and strong analytical thinking.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data formatting, sorting, and manipulation.
