Position Overview:

The University of Colorado is seeking a Finance Specialist at the Entry to Senior Level within the ARTS department. This role is essential in ensuring that various programs and projects, including grants and contracts, are financially viable and comply with Federal and University policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the management of financial reporting for ARTS, which includes tracking revenue, expenses, and balance sheet activities.
  • Monitor program and contract/grant budgets while assisting in fiscal and progress reporting to funding bodies, including performance-based and cost-rate analysis.
  • Oversee ARTS resources and activities within the University framework, focusing on fiscal and budget management, procurement, and grant/contract administration.
  • Maintain internal tracking systems for grant/contract submissions and awards, evaluating technology solutions to enhance tracking capabilities.
  • Act as a liaison for pre- and post-award processes between external funding sources and internal operations.
  • Conduct general financial reporting and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage contract processing, tracking, invoicing, and payment processing.
  • Handle Journal Entries (JEs) and Payroll Expense Transfers (PETs), ensuring compliance with monthly and annual financial reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners on budgeting and post-award reporting.
  • Perform routine audits of financial transactions, including cash handling and revenue reconciliation.
  • Participate actively in team meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least one year of professional experience in business, finance, or accounting administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A master's degree in business administration, economics, financial management, accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with university software applications such as m-Fin, CU Marketplace, Concur, InfoEd, and OnCore, or pre-/post-award management in an academic context.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and applying policies from various funding structures, including federal, state, foundation, and institutional sources.
