Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Establish and uphold internal controls to protect company assets and guarantee adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and evaluate financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to deliver insights into financial performance and trends.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, offering guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to facilitate strategic initiatives, including fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, and business growth.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, accounting standards, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and implement best practices.

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including team management, mentorship, and project oversight.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, adapt to change, and drive continuous improvement.
