Position Overview
As a key member of the Advanced Propulsion team, you will play a vital role in the development of the next-generation fast attack submarine, SSN(X). This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the design of the Navy's premier attack submarine platform from its inception.

Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be integral to an engineering team focused on the advancement of turbine components for turbine generators and main propulsion units. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Overseeing the mechanical components and systems throughout the entire lifecycle, including concept design, specification development, supplier evaluation, component production, testing, and validation.
  • Conducting research and planning to design and develop mechanical products and systems, including instruments, controls, engines, and thermal hydraulic systems.
  • Applying engineering principles to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, along with 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with 7 years of experience; or a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience.

Preferred Skills
Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Expertise in turbine and auxiliary system mechanical components.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to develop and review technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively brief stakeholders.
  • A background in systems engineering or project management, facilitating the conversion of technical requirements into comprehensive systems solutions.
