Job Title: Investment Analyst - Illiquid Strategy

The Office of Investments at The Ohio State University is seeking a highly skilled Investment Analyst to support the group's efforts to generate strong risk-adjusted returns for the Long-Term Investment Pool/Endowment. As a key member of a small and collaborative team, the Investment Analyst will work closely with senior investment professionals on all aspects of managing the portfolio.

The Investment Analyst will participate in meetings with external managers located globally and assist in evaluating and monitoring them using rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into a broad range of investments in private markets, including private equity, venture capital, real estate & infrastructure, and illiquid credit.

The successful candidate will have a strong academic record, a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and excellent computing and quantitative skills. They will also possess knowledge of financial and investment theory and practice, including quantitative methods. Excellent writing and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to make detailed presentations to internal and external investment entities.

The Investment Analyst will be considered for promotion to the next level at the end of the two-year term period, based on performance and team staffing needs. The position offers a competitive base salary and benefits, as well as a long-term incentive pool that rewards team members for strong investment performance and quantitative and qualitative contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and monitor external managers using rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Participate in meetings with external managers and contribute to investment decisions
  • Assist in portfolio management and risk management
  • Develop and maintain financial models and analysis
  • Communicate investment results and recommendations to senior investment professionals and other stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, accounting, business, economics, information systems, mathematics)
  • Strong academic record (GPA of 3.5 or higher)
  • Excellent computing and quantitative skills
  • Knowledge of financial and investment theory and practice, including quantitative methods
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to make detailed presentations to internal and external investment entities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, information systems, mathematics, or a relevant field
