Investment Associate, Illiquid Strategy

The Office of Investments is seeking to recruit a full-time Investment Associate to assist in the group's mission of achieving robust risk-adjusted returns for the Long-Term Investment Pool/Endowment. As a member of a small, collaborative team, the Investment Associate will collaborate with the Senior Director of Investments to oversee illiquid investment allocations. This includes formulating and proposing portfolio construction strategies, identifying new investment opportunities (partnership investments and co-investments), conducting thorough analyses, performing due diligence, negotiating, and recommending investments, as well as monitoring investment activities and participating in advisory committees.

The Investment Associate will engage in discussions with a distinguished array of external managers globally and contribute to their evaluation and oversight through rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis. This role is pivotal to the investment process, offering extensive exposure to investment strategies, portfolio development, and financial markets. The Investment Associate will also provide mentorship to Investment Analysts and assist in the preparation of materials for presentations to the Board of Trustees and other University-affiliated groups.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, Investment Associates are eligible to participate in a long-term incentive pool, rewarding team members for exceptional investment performance as well as quantitative and qualitative contributions to the team.

This position is based at the Ohio State University's main campus. The team operates in-office Monday through Thursday, with the option for remote work on Fridays.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in management, finance, business, or a related field. A minimum of six (6) years of investment management experience gained through private markets investing (LP role, co-investment, principal investor, investment banking, legal or other applicable discipline). Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Comprehensive knowledge of financial and investment theory and practice, including quantitative methods. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to deliver detailed presentations to both internal and external investment entities. Capacity to be a vital team member and excel in a collaborative environment while demonstrating leadership and initiative. Proficiency in MS Office and adept in analytics and modeling. Experience with relational databases and manager track record and performance services. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, committed to ethical behavior and professionalism. Willingness to travel internationally. Successful completion of a background check is required.

MBA, CFA, or CAIA. Eight to twelve years of relevant experience.
