About the Position

The Admissions Counselor is a key member of the Admissions team, responsible for collaborating with the Assistant Directors to plan and execute recruitment outreach and engagement with prospective and admitted students. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Yield
    • Proactively communicate and engage with prospective students and applicants;
    • Serve as the main point of contact for prospective students and applicants and guide them through the enrollment process in a respectful, courteous, and timely manner;
    • Correspond promptly and professionally with guests;
    • Proactively follow-up at specific points during the recruitment cycle to answer questions and assist applicants;
    • Assist with developing and implementing strategies for applicants to optimize yield;
    • Assist the Assistant Directors with planning and execution of annual recruitment programming for open houses and workshops.
  • Marketing & Events
    • Work with the Marketing and Communications Department and the Associate Dean to implement the communication strategy of the department;
    • Send regular communications to prospective students and applicant students;
    • Assist with creating marketing materials for all admitted student events and prospective student events;
    • Manage all event logistics, including tracking reservations, confirmation, and thank you emails.
  • Purchasing & Travel Reimbursements
    • Purchase all recruiting materials for the Admissions Office;
    • Manage weekly budgeting reports of major purchases;
    • Register the Admissions Office for all recruitment travel;
    • Process student travel reimbursements;
    • Provide regular reports regarding travel reimbursements to the Associate Dean.
  • Reading and Selection
    • Review applications to Scalia Law School and render decisions;
    • Read and evaluate applications to ensure that they meet the requirements for admission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience in higher education and/or customer service;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite and computer databases;
  • Expertise in a variety of tasks and functions related to new student recruitment, event planning, and admission counseling in higher education;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, highly motivated and detail-oriented, and have the ability to interact with persons at all skill levels;
  • Demonstrated effective decision-making skills in the absence of direct supervision;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills;
  • Ability to independently manage and complete work assignments without close supervision;
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with admissions, student recruitment, and/or enrollment management;
  • Experience with ACES2 or Banner;
  • Knowledge of law school curriculum and missions;
  • Ability to think critically to provide solutions to difficult problems and create value.
