Refugee Resettlement Program Officer

U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Private Sponsorship Program Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Refugee and Social Services Division, you will play a critical role in supporting the Welcome Corps program, which enables everyday Americans to welcome refugees arriving through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP).
Job Summary:The Private Sponsorship Program Officer will provide support and oversight to Private Sponsorship Groups (PSGs) throughout the 90-day sponsorship period, as well as provision of pre-arrival and preparation support. You will also develop and implement measures to mitigate the risk of sponsorship breakdown and respond appropriately if breakdown occurs.
Key Responsibilities:- Support and oversight of PSGs throughout the 90-day sponsorship period, including provision of pre-arrival and preparation support.
- Development and implementation of measures to mitigate the risk of sponsorship breakdown and respond appropriately if breakdown occurs.
- Development and implementation of policies and strategies to ensure the safety of refugees at all times, including protecting against sex and labor exploitation, domestic violence, and trafficking.
- Collection and review of 30- and 90-day PSG reports.
- Coordination and communication with the Community Sponsorship Hub (CSH) of the Welcome Corp regarding PSG matching, refugee travel, program changes, and notification to CSH and/or relevant authorities of serious issues.
- Development and implementation of a strategy for recruiting and training PSGs.
- Coordination with USCRI's R&P and other refugee programs to ensure the dissemination and exchange of best practices and resources, including to inform plans for refugees after their 90-days of Welcome Corp enrollment.
- Collaboration with local USCRI offices and affiliates to ensure PSGs are accessing local social services and other resources.
- Documentation of lessons learned to inform further development and strengthening of the Welcome Corps program.
- Development of public communications, including on social media, as needed.
- Engagement as a contributing member of the Refugee and Social Services Division team, collaborating closely with colleagues to plan and deliver division-wide activities to better achieve USCRI's goals.
- Master's degree in social work or a related field and one year of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor's degree with at least three years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with refugee-serving programs or related programs aiming to increase access to critical resources for immigrant or other underserved populations.
- Experience providing training and technical assistance, particularly to social service providers or volunteers.
- Experience recruiting and mobilizing volunteers.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of refugee and immigrant needs and services.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and ability and willingness to work both as a team member and independently, with a high level of self-motivation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with USCRI affiliates, national partners, volunteers, and funders.
- Highly adaptable and flexible with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to travel domestically a few times per year, preferred.
- Demonstrated support of USCRI's values by exhibiting respect for others, maintaining confidential information, appreciating a multicultural workplace, and showing dedication to safeguarding human rights, including of trafficking victims, refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and vulnerable or disenfranchised populations.
- Ability to speak a second language desirable.
- Satisfactory completion of USCRI's Orientation and Program Trainings.
- Completion of additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources or required by the Welcome Corps program.
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
- Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
