Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing patient assignments and ensuring efficient flow within specialized departments. This role provides essential guidance in patient care, addressing both patient and staff needs. Acting as a clinical resource and role model, the supervisor supports institutional priorities, policies, and practices across various departments including Orthopaedics/Podiatry, Rheumatology, GI, Pain & Spine, and Urology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Allocate staff to patients based on current clinic workload, taking into account acuity, staff experience, competency, and patient complexity.
  • Engage in performance management activities for staff, including coaching, preparing evaluations, and initiating disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Resolve conflicts as they arise, facilitating smooth clinic operations.
  • Implement service recovery strategies to enhance patient and employee retention.
  • Coordinate orientation and training programs for new employees.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments and clinics regarding services provided.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program is mandatory.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant supervisory or management experience is required.
  • Must maintain clinical competencies as necessary.
  • Strong written, verbal, and computer skills are essential.
  • Proven abilities in problem-solving, leadership, communication, fiscal responsibility, and teamwork are required.
  • Capability to work effectively with groups of employees and engage with patients and their families is crucial.

Licensure and Certifications Required

  • Current Registered Nurse license with eligibility in New Hampshire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or higher as per unit-specific requirements.
